Congresswoman Shot

Yesterday, Democratic congresswoman Gabriella Giffords of Arizona was shot in a shooting rampage in a Tucson grocery store parking lot.  At least six people are dead including a federal judge.  Giffords was shot in the head and the shooting continued until citizens tacked the suspected gunman.

John Roll, chief judge of the U.S. District Court of Arizona, Gabe Zimmerman, and a nine year old girl are among those who lost their lives.

I don't even care what kind of sick person would do such a terrible thing which is why I won't post the suspect's name.  If you are religious, I ask that you keep the families of those killed and injured in your prayers.  When I first heard this news, I immediately wondered if there was a correlation between the shooting and the recent immigration law passed in Arizona.  I've read reports saying this nut job acted alone, but he might have been paid.  Ms. Giffords has taken a position in support of comprehensive immigration reform, but she is not perceived as liberal or pro-immigrant.  Her districts is primarily composed of ranchers and rural Arizonans.

I refuse to blame the Republicans or the Tea Party for what happened although I'm sure some people have already done that.  It seems that the shooter acted alone.  Politics aside, this is a travesty.
