Football Week 1

Now that football season is impressing itself upon us, I will post a weekly football post on Joe's Musings.  High school and college football commences this Labor Day weekend, and the NFL season begins on Thursday as New Orleans Saints travel to Lambeau Field to play the Packers.

High School Football

Rockhurst
The Hawklets defeated Kansas powerhouse Hutchinson 35-20.  Rockhurst running back Jordan Walker rushed for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns, and quarterback Nick Jones added a 11/16 performance for 221 yards.  The Hawklets look to defend their title as Class 6 state champions.

Lee's Summit West
After a 14-1 state title campaign, Lee's Summit West is continuing its dominance in Missouri Class 5.  The Titans made quick work of St. Joseph Central last night, moving to 2-0 on the season.

Staley
Even though Blue Springs has a young squad this year, the Wildcats always put a decent team on the field.  The Staley Falcons, a newcomer on the Kansas City high school football stage, embarrassed the more established Blue Springs last night to the tune of a 47-25 victory.
